In a significant achievement for Türkiye’s educational sector, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara has advanced to the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes. This prestigious international awards program celebrates schools that excel in promoting innovation and making positive societal and environmental contributions. The school, established in 2017, has been recognized as one of 10 finalists worldwide in the Environmental Action category, a testament to its pioneering approach in integrating renewable energy into its educational offerings.
At the core of the school’s curriculum is the practical application of renewable energy systems, providing students with hands-on experience in working with actual energy systems and analyzing energy data. The curriculum emphasizes critical environmental issues, such as reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and advocating for zero-waste practices. A standout initiative from the school is the Energy Detectives Project, which educates middle school students on the intricacies of carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste management. Through this project, students are actively involved in monitoring and reducing energy and water consumption within their schools.
Beyond its environmental curriculum, the high school has made notable contributions to disaster relief efforts. It has developed an energy bank designed to supply electricity to temporary shelters after earthquakes, exemplifying its commitment to community support and resilience in times of crisis.
