Türkiye’s defense and aerospace sectors have achieved a significant milestone, with exports surpassing $11 billion on a rolling 12-month basis for the first time. This achievement underscores the country’s growing prowess in the global defense industry. In June alone, Türkiye recorded $802.8 million in defense and aerospace exports, marking a 29.6% increase from the same period last year. Over the first half of the year, these exports rose by 29.5% year-on-year, reaching $4.67 billion.
The President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), Haluk Görgün, attributed this growth to the rising international demand for Turkish defense products. He emphasized the expansion of Türkiye’s defense manufacturing capabilities and highlighted the effectiveness of Turkish defense systems in real-world scenarios. This effectiveness has been pivotal in establishing lasting international partnerships, further boosting global confidence in Turkish defense solutions.
Over the past twenty years, Türkiye has made concerted efforts to develop its domestic defense industry. A key focus has been reducing dependency on foreign military technology while simultaneously emerging as a formidable exporter on the global stage. Today, Türkiye exports over 230 different defense products to 185 countries, reflecting its expansive reach and influence in the global market.
Türkiye’s ambitions in the defense sector are clear: the nation is determined to secure a place among the world’s top 10 defense exporters. This goal is supported by a strategy that leverages innovation and quality in defense manufacturing, catering to the needs of international clients who value performance and reliability. As Türkiye continues to expand its presence in the defense sector, the country is poised to play an increasingly influential role in shaping global defense dynamics.
