TOKYO – Hotel Okura just raised the stakes in Japan’s luxury market. The brand is launching Okura Resort Hakone Gora, its first-ever Japanese resort—and it’s aiming straight for Hakone’s massive 20-million-visitor audience.
The bold venture is backed by a powerhouse partnership with Nishimatsu Construction, solidified in mid-2025. With Hakone Gora already one of the country’s hottest hot spring zones, Hotel Okura is positioning itself to take center stage.
“This location carries unmatched cultural and natural weight,” said President Toshihiro Ogita—a clear signal that the brand is ready to compete at the highest level.
The resort’s “Forest Hideaway” vision by design star Gwenael Nicolas pulls no punches. All 58 rooms come equipped with private outdoor hot spring baths fed directly from Owakudani. Add dramatic indoor bathing experiences, a teppanyaki show kitchen, and a sleek bar lounge—and the stage is set for a flagship arrival.
The countdown to 2029 is on. Hotel Okura isn’t just entering the resort space—it’s making a statement.
