A medical expert with training from Harvard has identified the three main dietary foes that are behind the fatty liver crisis. This gastroenterologist urges people to eliminate these from their diets to protect this vital organ.
The first enemy is sugary drinks. Sodas and juices are referred to as “liquid poison” because they overload the liver with fructose, a sugar that the liver turns into fat, causing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The expert suggests water, tea, or coffee as healthier alternatives.
The second enemy is deep-fried foods. The high level of trans fats and saturated fats in these foods causes inflammation and fat storage in liver cells. This process is a major factor in liver damage and is often connected to obesity.
The third and final enemy is ultra-processed foods. This includes snacks like chips and candies, as well as convenience foods like hot dogs and instant noodles. These items put a strain on the liver with a combination of unhealthy fats, refined sugars, and artificial additives, while also harming the gut’s good bacteria.
